playing house

Playing house in not like playing doctor. Unless you’re talking about the show, House, in which case it all gets quite confusing.

Bryan and I are on the house hunt these days. Mostly it involves me finding listings that are interesting, sending them to him, and then we talk endlessly about them. Today it involved actually driving out to see a particular place–going so far as to have the realtor come out and let us in to see it. Apparently I’m suddenly an adult. We’re now talking about neighborhoods and walking distance to shopping, our lack of caring about school districts, and how many renters vs. owners live in neighborhoods.

It’s occured to me recently (i.e. since I’ve turned the ripe old age of 30) that I’m suddenly grown up. Suddenly! OMG just now! First it was at Radena’s birthday dinner where I’m sitting in a nice restaurant with two friends I’ve known for a dozen years and all of our significant others. We’re drinking a nice bottle of wine, chatting about cars and jobs and property taxes if you move out of state but have two residences…when BAM! Grown up. I guess I should’ve seen it coming.

gurgle gurgle ugh

I’m baking cookies because I don’t feel good. No, Bryan doesn’t think it makes sense either. I’m enjoying the baking recently, but have chosen the cookie bar over the drop cookies. I’m too lazy to form cookie-shaped cookies. I admit this.

I’ve been feeling vaguely sick for a few days now. I’m not sure if I’m picking up this crap thing that has been going around at work, or if I’m just feeling the effects of working seven days in a row and then doing three straight days of graduation celebration. That’s a lot of sangria, beer, and watching other people graduate.

In addition, there is something on tv right now called “The Movie Preview Awards” which is “[c]elebrating the best in movie trailers, featuring nominees and awards in 16 categories.” What? There are awards for movie trailers? This is apparently the ninth year of these awards. Sinbad is hosting. I had to change the channel in order to keep the cable box from exploding. Whoa.

your time to shine

Congrats to my friends who graduated this weekend. I love you guys and had a great time watching you walk across the stage, pose for photos, and hanging out during the not-graduation times. Thanks for coming to the beach with me, eating breakfast with me, and being awesome friends.

Now I need a nap. Helping other people graduate is exhausting!

Brass and kreece: You guys are awesome! I’m so proud of you! =)

back to the (camping) future

My first camping trip of the year happened quite early. (Beach trip was awesome too…photos soon forthcoming.) We went to a great wooded campsite in Napa where I got to try out my awesome hammock sleep system. It gets two thumbs way up for comfort and ease of use.

1001 movies to see (pt 1)

Before you die. Because seeing movies after you die is more complicated than just using Netflix. I’ll work on it for my own afterlife…but for now, see ‘em pre-deathification. This list is really 1001 movies, so it’s going to be behind a “more” tag. I’ve made the ones I’ve seen bold and stuff that is (already) in my Netflix cue is italicized.

Spoiler alert?! I’ve seen 249 of the movies, which is not quite 25%. It’s true that I’ve never seen The Shawshank Redemption. Or Meet The Parents. I have seen a lot of the random ones because I was a film student. I think I own about 10% of them. I was going to mark those too, but it was a lot of work. I have to ease back into this blogging thing!

(Broken into many posts because of a bug.)

not quite dead

Here again is the obligatory post indicating that I have not shuffled off this mortal coil and am instead much too lazy to blog.

Exciting things are coming! Photography! Stories! Lists! Links! The New Kids On The Block reunion tour (fuck the haters)! There are literally dozens of lines of text already pre-written inside my head. Hopefully some of them will make it up here…
