want to play with dolls?

Best. Halloween. News. EVER.

Joss Whedon is coming back to television. Putting together a new hour-long drama starring Eliza Dushku and also involving Tim Minear.

The series…is about “Echo (Eliza Dushku), a young woman who is literally everybody’s fantasy. She is one of a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, language—even muscle memory—for different assignments. The assignments can be romantic, adventurous, outlandish, uplifting, sexual and/or very illegal. When not imprinted with a personality package, Echo and the others are basically mind-wiped, living like children in a futuristic dorm/lab dubbed the ‘Dollhouse’, with no memory of their assignments—or of much else. The show revolves around the childlike Echo’s burgeoning self-awareness, and her desire to know who she was before, a desire that begins to seep into her various imprinted personalities and puts her in danger both in the field and in the closely monitored confines of the Dollhouse.”

oh that’s what it was

You know the feeling when you kind of dislike someone, but you can’t quite place it? And then you find out a movie or set of movies that they love and then suddenly it all becomes clear? That happened for me this week. Someone mentioned offhand a movie that they really loved. One that if I’d found out that Bryan liked it even a moderate amount, I might not have married him. (I am not being facetious in the slightest.)

I’m not saying that my taste in movies is the end-all be-all. After all, I’m currently watching Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in HD because I can. And Angelina is fighting baddies on a bungie cord while in white pajamas. Clearly I’m not a bastion of taste, but I feel better about my own hunches knowing that clue A and clue B together make a lot of sense.

not an april fool’s joke

Battlestar: Galactica will not start season four until April. GAH.

ETA I needed to add something positive. Listen to Spoon live in concert.

is anyone home?

I must profess that I’m not too busy to blog. I’m too lazy to blog. Bryan and I just moved, and unpacking three boxes a day (after packing them all up) has been draining my will to live. That and an angry UTI, a small oral surgery to remove a mucocele, a new boss, travel to the east coast, and crap in general…well I’ve been wanting to do things that aren’t blogging.

So, uh…
