Oh, I love Berkeley. :D Bryan and I went up on Saturday to hang out and eat. It was a lovely day up there. Even got to see a guy in a brown outfit with horns on (I think he was either a moose or a reindeer) cruising around on roller skates. Oh yes, the fun folks were out. Berkeley has so many fond memories for me. Playing lacrosse in the rain, embarrassing the hell out of my coach (who was kicking ass in her pick-up game), trying to get warm by eating in a tiny little African restaurant (the size of my living room) that specialized in food from Cameroon, Audrey yelling at me for littering a fruit rind and mocking my “but it’s biodegradable” excuse, going to IHOP with Melis and Devin (eek!) and having the worst service ever, watching Bree play hockey, driving out for Kurosawa film marathons with MikeD… I spent a bit of time there while I was in college.
That being said, for my wallet’s sake, it should be against the law to go shop at both Rasputin and Amoeba on the same afternoon. I got out relatively unscathed, with only three CDs, but Bryan’s damage was much worse. CDs by Dave Brubeck, Cake, Pink Floyd, Franz Ferdinand, and who knows who else. I bought the Brubeck stuff (replacing lost CDs) and Bryan got a little bit of everything. We also picked up a bootleg copy (though I thought it was legit when we picked it up) of Battle Royale and watched it. Damn. Definitely something I enjoyed.
“We got smut.” That’s what the lovely (and by lovely, I mean dirty and smarmy) guy at the “comic book” store said to us. We saw the shop from across the street and thought we’d peek in. It was like someone’s dirty garage, which just happened to have a back room with lots of porn. Oh joy. There was a nice sign that said “barely legal” too. Bryan points out that barely legal is *still* legal. LOL Rain on perverts parades much? Needless to say, we didn’t stay very long. I continued to say “we got smut” all evening though. Of course. =)
Dinner was at a Japanese restaurant called Norikonoko. We’re definitely going back. Not that I’ve ever had bad food in Berkeley, but this was yummy. I had miso ramen, and while not the best ramen I’ve ever had (c’mon…I’ve had it in Hokkaido, gimmie a break), it was damn good. The best I’ve had in the states, for sure. Plus they’ve got natto on the menu. I’ve never seen that before. LOL Not out here at least. No sushi there, but when there’s a big bowl of miso ramen and other goodies, I don’t need sushi. :D
I’ve had a good three day weekend. Rare, and well-enjoyed. Back to work tomorrow.

I know it’s Bryan posting that, but one might hope a spam filter would pick up a comment like that.
