moving on

Saturday was my last day at the Fremont store. It was almost a year exactly that I was there (plus three days) and it was the best, most fulfilling year of work I’ve ever had. Thanks to my staff and the other managers for making it so fantastic to work in Fremont. It was hard to leave, and though I start at Saratoga tomorrow, I still think of Fremont as “my” store. Also, thanks to everyone who showed for my going away drinking party on Thursday night. It is fun to not be the boss, and to hang out with everyone as a peer.

Thanks Fremont!

speaker heaven

I did it. I spent my bonus on some home theater speakers. :D They arrived today (after much internal cursing that FedEx didn’t deliver on Saturday…they arrived in Oakland at 4am Saturday morning) and I’ve set up the fronts and the center. Bryan will have to mount the rears, because our stool isn’t tall enough for me to safely drill. But whoa. BAMF! I’ve got X2 in, and it’s so cool. Even without the rears, it’s SO cool!

Thanks to Axiom for their excellent customer service, prompt delivery (3 weeks early, by my count!), and sweet product. I can’t wait to get more time to play with them in all their glory.

Oh, and hello to some old friends who might be checking out the blog. Hi!

who are you?

No not you, I probably know who *you* are. But last night, Bryan and I went and saw The Who at Shoreline Ampitheatre. (Buy that show here.) It was quite a fun show. Bryan’s favorite band of all time, so he was certainly more into it than I, but I had a great time too.

Pete Townshend: now there’s a man who can play a guitar. Wow. And my fluff note from the show is that Zak Starkey needs to get a haircut before he becomes the spitting image of his dad.

where am I?

What happens when you’re too tired to update your blog? Apparently you go weeks (was it that long?) without a post, and the last post was little more than self-spamming. ;)

What’s been going on? Well I’ve forgotten again to call Rachel’s parents to go fetch my fun stuff from Australia. D’oh. So hopefully I’ll remember to call on my way home from work tomorrow.

Speaking of work, I was offered an opportunity to transfer to the store that’s closer to my house. I went in an interviewed for it, was sort of stressed out in a confident kind of way, and got called the next day. I’m in. :D Which means, among other things, I’m going to be Sarah’s boss again. Muahahaha. So it’s a lateral transfer (same job, but bigger store), but the Saratoga store is MUCH bigger than my current store. Definitely a great opportunity for my career. I’m super bummed to leave my staff, though. They’re the best, and I want to take them all with me. :/

Things are going well overall. Bryan and I might be closer to moving into the big part of our house, and possibly discussing a mortgage. Oooh, equity. Best stop spending money!
