Madness!

Stanford squeaked to a win, while Minnesota advanced as well. It was a good day for watching women’s basketball. At least for the teams I was rooting for. =)

Only a few more games, then it’s like the cloud in the silver lining: baseball. Feh.

I don’t drink Pepsi

However, I’ve managed to collect six free songs from the Pepsi/iTunes Music Store giveaway. So for me, I’m actually winning for nothing. I did buy one Pepsi the other day at work, and won with that cap. I guess I’m just lucky that no one at work uses the iTMS, so all these winning caps get left on my desk for me. :D I can’t complain.

OTOH, I’ve no idea what to buy now. Bryan went and bought Maroon 5 the other day (and we discovered that the two tracks we’d already heard are the best ones on the whole album). Music recommendations, anyone?

She’s dumber than I thought.

And that’s really dumb.

I’m talking about Avril Lavigne, pop music’s version of watered down beer at a high school kegger. A little background here: Today at work, Larry gave me his Pepsi lid where he won a free download from the iTunes Music Store. I got home from work, and decided to enter the winning code before I went and lost the little yellow Pepsi lid. As I fire up iTunes (and start up some Keith Jarrett trio) I note that there are some new celebrity playlists. (Wherein celebrities–musical and also not–give their music recommendations, along with a little blurb describing why they chose each song.) Avril has a celebrity playlist.

Now I have this sick little fascination with her. I can’t stand her, but I keep looking, mostly in the hope that she falls face-first onto a spork (or something). I click and get the giggle of the evening. Look. Read the comments for track eight. I’ll wait.

Now, I think you all know the definition of “irony.” And Alanis Morissette is categorically not being ironic. Everything in her song is unfortunate, but not ironic. There is, apparently, something called “Morissettian irony,” but irony by any other name blah blah blah.

Avril is ironic, in that she’s an unfortunate blemish upon the vast musical landscape. Oh, and a message to Liz Phair… I think it’s really sad that I went from thinking you were radder than rad with Exile in Guyville, to mistaking you for Avril when hearing your new single at work. Feh.

house calls

Hmmm… Maybe Bryan is right. It’s possible that I’ve got too many jackets. Do I really have too many technical outerwear pieces?

In any case, I’ve put some of the hall closet together, as well as doing my first load of laundry here. The washing machine is too high. I can’t reach the bottom. D’oh. I miss our lovely washer and dryer, but then again, I don’t really want the nice machines out in the elements. What I’d really like is to have our own set-up with our already-paid-for stuff. Soon, I hope.

post, post, goose!

Muahahaha.

Julie Benz
Role in the Buffyverse: Darla on both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel

POPGURLS: If you could write an episode in this universe, who would you kill off and who would your character sleep with?

I would sleep with Angel and Spike together, then I would have to kill myself at the end. It would be too much.

In other news, work is fun. I love my job. :D New house is coming along quite well. Must tackle the closets soon!

good thing I didn’t TiVo

Well, Stanford won tonight, and it’s probably because I didn’t TiVo the game. When I tape, they lose. Cases in point: Harvard and Old Dominion. Oh the trauma. For me too. ;) But it was a fun game, and I had a good time.

Even better though…Boston College beat UConn, and any day that UConn loses is a good day to me. Especially when it means they won’t make the Big East finals. :D

March Madness, how I love you!

movin’ on up!

Yes, I’m still alive. But unfortunately moving (everything I own *again* for the fourth time in three years) and having a cold at the same time conspire against blogging. Blah.

So I’ve had this cold thing for going on 10 days now (so Bryan tells me). It sucks. Coughing and sniffling and stuffed up ears. It’s all icky. I’m lucky that the other managers at work are great and let me take two sick days even when we’re already short a manager. And we’ve been moving.

Yup, we moved. Jackass Neighbors are a thing of the past. We now have Nice Neighbor Slash Landlord who has Cute Dog. Shea, the dog, thinks she also lives in our place, and likes to invite herself in when we let Chandler in. It’s quite funny, and we don’t mind at all. An ENORMOUS thanks to Alex and Trevor, who went above and beyond (especially Alex) in helping us move. Where are we in the move? Well I filled the pantry up today, we’ve put the dishes away, and have basically set up the living room. Mostly. The bed is put together, but my lovely nightstand is on Bryan’s side of the bed, since my side of the bed still has boxes stacked next to it.

What have we done? We went shopping at IKEA and bought a few things, but wanted more stuff that they didn’t have in stock. Feh. And we went to Yamagami’s Nursery and found several plants and pots for our porch.

What’s next? Oh, I dream of home theaters and knives…and while we’re fantisizing… :D
