useless

If I were cnn.com.

If I were news.google.com.

If I were the Jacka…erm, President of the United States.

If I were NPR.

That is all. See, maybe you *don’t* want me updating all the time.

lacking in wombats

It’s true. What the world needs now is wombats, sweet wombats.

In other news, craigslist is turning into a time sucker of the magnitude of bash.org. I’m trying to sell my bike via the site, and it may actually be working. Selling snowboard bindings was a joke though. At least people are no longer offering me exchanges of services for my things.

I fixed a Windows NT terminal at work today. Yay me. I feel dirty, but yay me.

ride, Sally Ride

So I admit, the title is just silly, and has nothing to do with anything.

I went snowboarding with Sarah and a bunch of people from her store on Wednesday. First day this season at Sierra at Tahoe. Though it hasn’t snowed in a conspicuously long time, conditions were pretty good. It was sunny and windy, with pretty nice groomed runs. I’m definitely feeling more confident this season, and look forward to getting several more days in. The new gear is working really well. I especially love the bindings.

I’ve got nearly 100 days of uptime on my TiBook. One interesting thing I’ve found with Panther is that it honors sleeps in your uptime counts. Even via the command line. I can’t quite figure that out, as I seem to recall in previous iterations of the OS that you’d receive uptime minus sleeps.

Bryan and I are about 98% sure that we’re going to move. We’ve been given an opportunity to move into a slightly smaller place (no dining room, but has an eat-in kitchen) for quite a bit less than we’re paying now. And it’s only about a mile away from where we live now. The even more upside to this is we’re being given the opportunity to use a portion of the rent we pay to buy the place. As one of the guys from work said, “It’s never too early to start earning equity.”

Plus our neighbors are jackasses. Asshats. Unbelievable morons. Last night it was pretty late and we heard this loud cracking noise as some of the guys were getting home. I went out this morning because the dog was in the front yard, only to discover that he was in the front yard because they’d kicked in one of the fence slats. Unbelievable.

greeting from MACWORLD

This entry comes to you from the media/press room at MW San Francisco, where they have run out of food, and I have argued with my bank very loudly on the phone in front of dozens of people I don’t know.

The show is pretty good, but not terribly exciting. GarageBand is by far the coolest thing released, and seeing John Mayer play on stage with the program was really exciting. I wasn’t familiar with him before, but will probably go get a track or two from him on the iTMS.

Last night was The Mac Observer’s Party 1.0, which was a rockin’ good time. The band sounded the best I’ve heard them, and over 200 people were there for a good time. Geeks can par-tay. :D

a meme counts as an entry

It does! Got this from a board that I used to post on, lost my log in during a board meltdown, left the fandom, and now just browse occasionaly. And spamming my own blog is allowed.

Little-Known talent you have (or something surprising about you that you think people don’t know)
I can’t roll my “r”s. It sounds like I’m hacking up a phlegm ball. I realize that this is a lack of talent, but it could also be “surprising.”
